Early Work

Borrowing from improvisational theater techniques, I shoot by reacting to the scene without deliberation or preconceived ideas of what is worth capturing. In theater performance, the ability to listen intently and stay open to what is presented in the moment provides for more honest and emotive impulses. In photography, when I open my mind and simply observe what unfolds, I can react to feelings and use intuition to interpret a scene in a personal way. Working from improvisation and spontaneity allows me to see ordinary things differently.
