I have often oscillated between the structured, logical, and process-driven world of mathematics and the amorphous, creative, and improvisational world of art. Though I initially thought art and science were diametrically opposed, I now find a synthesis of the two in photography. I approach my work using improvisation and spontaneity while relying on my intuition for ratios, geometry, and light.
Although my varied background made me an observer curious about different perspectives, the I lack a sense of belonging to any single group, which has lent to an air of quiet solitude in my photography.
Drawing inspiration from film noir, Cubism, and Constructivism, I focus my work around dramatic lighting, unique perspectives, and a Bauhaus attention to balancing line, form, and color.
